16 Primary, 19 Secondary and 2 Sanlitun students represented BSB at the 2019 ACAMIS swimming event held in Suzhou. The whole team swam with determination and willingness to succeed and there was a great team spirit all weekend.

Over the two day meet more than 150 personal best times were recorded and new school records were set by Roy Xu (11-12yr) 400m Freestyle, Charlotte Steel (15yrs+) 100m Breaststroke, 400m Freestyle, 200m IM, James Su (13-14yr) 100m Breaststroke, Angela Huffer (9-10yr) 200m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m IM, 100m Free, Alexander Huffer (13-14yr) 400m Freestyle and the boys 13-14yrs 200m Freestyle and Medley Relay (James Su, Cem Demirel, James Thorp and Alexander Huffer).

We had a number of top 20 finishes but the highlights were 4th place for Charlotte Steel in the 15+ girls 100m Breaststroke and Angela Huffer 9-10yr 50m Freestyle. James Su finished 8th in the final of the 13-14yr 100m Breaststroke and the 11-12 boys 200m Free relay also came 5th. In the 9-10yr girls 200m Free relay the girls ended 6th. All these results were above expectations. Overall BSB finished 20th place on points won, having scored at both the senior and junior events.

All the students can be proud of their achievements over the course of the two day event. They were great ambassadors for the school as well. A big thank you to Amanda Thorp, Alexandra Lewandowski and parent volunteer Louise Steel for their coaching and team managing over the weekend.
